The Community Safety and Amenity department safeguards public health and upholds safety and amenity standards across the municipality. Through proactive enforcement, education, and collaboration, the team manages key responsibilities including parking, public safety, animal control, food safety and health compliance.
About the Position
This is an exciting leadership opportunity to step into the role of Prosecution Officer within the Community Safety and Amenity management team. The position plays a key part in managing Council’s prosecution and infringement functions under a range of Acts and Local Laws. It involves leading day-to-day prosecution activities, preparing and reviewing briefs of evidence, appearing in court, and supporting enforcement officers across the City Development division. The Prosecutions Officer also oversees the infringement management and review process, leads the Infringement Review team, and drives improvements in systems, reporting, and performance. The role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact while working in a respectful and supportive workplace culture that values collaboration, fairness, and continuous improvement.
Skills and Experience
- Experienced prosecutor with knowledge and experience in criminal law, practice and procedure
- Ability to undertake the role in accordance with internal practices and procedures and in compliance with organisational, or otherwise agreed, timelines
- Well developed organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure, make sound judgements and prioritise workloads in a busy environment
- Demonstrated ability to builds and sustain effective and productive relationships and partnerships with a network of key people internally and with external stakeholders
- Anticipates and is responsive to internal and external client needs
- Contemporary knowledge of and ability to effectively use relevant technology systems and applications relating to key responsibilities
- Human resource management skills, with a proven record in building, leading and inspiring teams
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

- Victorian Drivers Licence
- Satisfactory National Police Check
