The City of Busselton is seeking a professional, community-minded and proactive Ranger to join our dedicated team. The role of a Ranger:
As a Ranger, you will be responsible for enforcing local laws, State Government legislation and Council policies. You will also be a visible and approachable presence across the City, providing advice, education and high-level customer service to residents and visitors alike.
This is a hands-on, operational role where every day brings something new—from investigating local law breaches and conducting patrols, to assisting in emergency situations or supporting community education programs.
Our Full Time Rangers currently operate on a rotating roster working 152 hours over a 4 week period, with the standard roster being 4/3, 4/3, 8/6. Hours may vary throughout the year but will generally be between the hours of 5am and 8pm. The roster is currently undergoing a review process.
What you’ll be doing:
- Enforcing State and local legislation fairly and consistently.
- Investigating animal control, fire compliance, parking, littering, and more.
- Responding to community queries and after-hours calls (on a rostered basis).
- Supporting legal proceedings through accurate documentation and attendance.
- Maintaining the City's animal management facility.
- Educating the community and promoting positive engagement.
- Patrolling public spaces and City assets to ensure community safety.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- Experience in regulatory enforcement, preferably as a Ranger or similar roles such as law enforcement, compliance and health and safety.
- ROCS 1 & 2 or equivalent qualifications.
- Certificate IV in Government Investigations (desirable).
- A good working knowledge of relevant legislation and legal procedures.
- Excellent communication, time management and conflict resolution skills.
- A customer-first mindset and ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
Pre-employment Requirements:
- Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence
- National Police Clearance (within 6 months)
- Current First Aid Qualification
- Must reside in or be available within the City of Busselton when rostered on-call
- Australian work rights
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical & functional capacity assessment
