Primary objective
Undertake high volume Medicare claiming, deliver Medicare related training and provide advice to Health Service staff in relation
to Medicare compliance and claiming to contribute to the objectives of the NT Health Revenue Medicare Hub.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Responsible for processing large volumes of Medicare Bulk Billing claims, raising invoices related to patient services,
investigating and managing claims outcomes and resubmissions to optimise revenue, in a dynamic environment and subject to
strict deadlines.
2. Liaise with Medicare, providers and Katherine Hospital staff to identify issues, facilitate information for resolution to ensure
provider number compliance to maximise revenue.
3. Contact point for providing education and training in relation to revenue financial categories, schedule of fees and Medicare
Bulk Billing processes and compliance for varied Katherine Hospital stakeholders.
4. Timely identification, verification and action on Medicare Benefit Schedule claiming, analyse data and provide feedback.
5. Ability to comply with NT Fees and Charges Manual and Medicare Australia Bulk Billing claiming rules.
6. High level of motivation, prioritisation and ability to work with minimal supervision, within a customer focused delivery
mindset.
7. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken
in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Ability to accurately process large volumes of invoices within strict deadlines.
2. Demonstrated ability to prioritise, work with minimal supervision and provide high quality customer service.
3. Proven ability to comply with relevant legislation, adhere to governance processes and provide compliance education to staff
and stakeholders.
4. Ability to recognise anomalies in routine data and make recommendations based on observations.
5. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and uphold organisational values.
6. Demonstrated high-level attention to detail in the identification of revenue generation to limit revenue leakage.
7. Intermediate computer skills for compliance checking, record keeping and reporting, in particular Excel or similar.
8. Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal, across broad and varied stakeholder groups, including the
ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures.
Desirable
1. Experience in the health sector and knowledge of the Medicare Benefit Schedule claiming rules.
