ABOUT US
The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities. We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better. It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.
Make a Meaningful Impact Every Day!
Are you ready to lead with purpose, coordinate with heart, and support a team changing lives across Victoria?
At The Salvation Army, we’re more than just an organisation — we’re a movement. Guided by our mission to share the love of Jesus by caring for people, building healthy communities, creating faith pathways, and working for justice, we walk alongside some of the most vulnerable people in our society. Now, we’re searching for a dynamic, compassionate, and organised leader to help us bring that mission to life.
About the role
We’re looking for a State Administration and Operations Coordinator to bring structure, clarity, and innovation to our Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) stream across Victoria. You will be a cornerstone of our administrative operations across 16 service sites and lead a team of five direct reports.
You will play a critical role in ensuring our services run smoothly and efficiently — from HR coordination and budget planning, to fleet management and social media engagement, to project support and community event planning. You will be the behind-the-scenes hero who keeps everything moving.
This is more than a job. It’s an opportunity to lead, to organise, and to make an impact that matters.
Reporting to the AOD Victorian State Manager, this is a fixed-term full-time position, contract until January 2026, based in Coburg North, VIC.
Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Award Level 5.
You will successfully
  • Coordinate high-level administration and streamline operations across the AOD stream
  • Provide direct leadership and guidance to a team of dedicated admin professionals
  • Deliver high-quality support for state-wide projects, events, and reports
  • Build collaborative partnerships with internal stakeholders and support service delivery
  • Champion a culture of safety, well-being, and continuous improvement
  • Manage communication, system processes, and contribute to strategic planning
You will have
  • A genuine passion for community services and a commitment to The Salvation Army's mission and values
  • A Certificate IV or Diploma in Business Administration (desirable)
  • Previous experience in administration or operations in the NFP or AOD sector (highly regarded)
  • Exceptional organisation, time management, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and confidence using digital tools and systems
  • Leadership capability with a team-oriented mindset
  • Integrity, compassion, and respect in every interaction
  • A current and valid Working with Children's Check
  • A current Victorian Driver’s Licence
What we offer
The Salvos offer eligible employee's a well-balanced package of meaningful benefits including:
  • Maximise your earnings with salary packaging up to $15,900 tax-free + $2,650 for meals and entertainment.
  • Enjoy generous Paid Parental Leave (12 weeks primary, secondary carers), Purchased Leave (up to 8 weeks), and 5 days paid leave for career development.
  • Flexible work options, access to a Fitness Passport, and exclusive discounts to enhance your lifestyle.
  • Prioritise your well-being with EAP support and health & wellness programs.
  • Boost your career with ongoing training and development opportunities.
Ready to take your next step in leadership and purpose?
Apply today and be part of a team dedicated to transforming lives and communities across Victoria.
