What you'll be doing
The Team Leader:
- will provide clinical leadership and support, demonstrating knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of the issues that affect older persons experiencing mental health problems
- will establish a close working relationship with stakeholders to ensure the timely admission and discharge of patients to assist in patient flow and the provision of best practice community care.
- has a clinical responsibility which involves face-to-face consumer, carer and family contact and support, as well as requiring the incumbent to work within the multi-disciplinary team.
- will support and promote consumer and carer rights in both a clinical context and in service planning capacity and play an integral role in facilitating the development of a Recovery oriented approach within the team.
The promotion of a culture of clinical practice improvement is the responsibility of the Team Leader who will initiate and develop Quality Improvement projects within the Older Persons Mental Health team, and ensure the processes of care are clearly understood.
The Team Leader is a member of the Northern Beaches Community Mental Health Service ( NBCMHS) Management Team and will be involved in all strategic, business and operational planning within NBCMHS.
Across NSLHD Mental Health Drug Alcohol (MHDA), the incumbent will contribute and participate in the Older People Mental Health (OPMH) Program meetings and NSW State Benchmarking activities.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Relevant qualification in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Nursing with current AHPRA registration. For Occupational Therapists and Social Workers require demonstrated experience as a level 2 or above. Social Workers must be eligible for membership with AASW. Clinical Psychologist must hold a Master’s degree or higher.
