The Opportunity:
KBR, as a trusted partner to Defence, is seeking a Technical Advisor – Configuration Management to join the Land Engineering Agency (LEA). In this role, you will provide specialist technical advice and configuration management services in support of Army’s land materiel capability, with a particular focus on fuel systems, mechanical components, and related subsystems.
As part of LEA, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the integrity of technical data, supporting engineering assurance, and enabling the sustainment and modernisation of Army platforms and equipment. This role provides exposure to a wide range of Defence products including:
- Heavy and light military vehicles
- Fuel handling, storage, and distribution systems
- Mechanical and propulsion subsystems
- Test, evaluation, and diagnostic equipment within the LEA environment
All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a NV1 Clearance or above should apply.
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist advice on configuration management practices to support engineering and sustainment outcomes.
- Apply Defence-standard CM principles (AS ISO 10007, DEF(AUST) standards) to establish and maintain configuration baselines.
- Support the assessment and implementation of engineering changes, deviations, and concessions.
- Liaise with engineering, ILS, and project teams to ensure accurate tracking of technical data and effective decision-making.
- Contribute to configuration audits, compliance reviews, and risk assessments.
- Provide technical input into assessments of fuel systems, mechanical assemblies, and related subsystems.
- Prepare and maintain CM documentation, reports, and registers in line with Defence standards.
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
- Degree qualifications in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related discipline) OR equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in Configuration Management within Defence, Aerospace, or a highly regulated technical environment.
- Strong technical background in fuel systems and/or mechanical engineering.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical data packs, and configuration documentation.
- Knowledge of Defence acquisition and sustainment frameworks (CASG/ASDEFCON desirable).
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across multidisciplinary teams.
- Must be eligible for an Australian Defence security clearance (NV1 or higher desirable).
