Primary objective
Provide a high-quality client oriented administrative mineral titles service to a range of stakeholders (government, mining industry
and members of the public); enter and maintain accurate mineral title data in relevant databases.
Context statement
Mineral Titles is a multi-disciplined administrative group comprising personnel with geographic information system and data base
skills, field personnel with expertise in Aboriginal liaison and culture, exploration and mining industry experience and general
administrative staff across a range of administrative officer levels.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide quality administration of mining tenure ensuring compliance with legislative and procedural requirements, including
maintaining textual and mapping information in relevant databases, authenticating detailed applications, undertaking complex
rent reviews, reconciling banking and daily batch monies etc.
2. Provide a quality mining tenure service through a front counter and enquiry line function and information, assistance and
advice to staff, industry and the public on the application, grant and maintenance of mining tenure.
3. Research and prepare less complex correspondence and reports.
4. Assist the Team Leader with issues and projects e.g., digitisation of old files, development of policies and procedures.
5. Provide a user-support service for relevant database mapping systems and web interfaces.
6. Actively participate as a full member of the Mineral Titles team.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Knowledge of land tenure issues regarding granting of mineral titles on land classifications in the NT and near offshore.
2. Proven skills in a range of commonly used office software, mapping and mapping systems and records and information
management.
3. Proven experience in the administration, interpretation and application of legislation and policy.
4. Proven customer service skills including front counter operations and dealing with telephone enquiries in a professional manner.
5. Sound financial numeracy and written communication skills with the ability to deal with confidential information.
6. High level of self-motivation and the ability to use initiative and proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
and work as part of a team.
7. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a range of diverse stakeholders including from diverse cultural
backgrounds.
Desirable
1. Qualifications in mapping.
2. Experience in lands, titles and / or mining industry.
