Primary objective
Provide a high standard of advice, assistance and support to management and staff to ensure compliance with Department
of Corrections (DOC), Staff Learning and Development Team. Perform administrative duties to support the operations of
the DOC Staff Learning and Development Centre in Darwin.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide support to DOC staff to ensure the availability of training and education resources and any changes to
legislation, policies, and procedures.
2. Provide reception duties and support the Staff Learning and Development management team with accurate and timely
administrative support and reports as required.
3. Provide Secretariat services to the DOC Training Governance Committee.
4. Provide advice to DOC staff and disseminate information with regards to studies assistance, availability of training
courses and correct procedures for applying for same.
5. Update the computerised training database as directed by the Registered Training Organisations, Quality and
Compliance Manager. Liaise with technical support staff to enable efficient processing of student results and compliance
to subsequent auditing requirements, processing of documentation for commencing trainee correctional officers.
6. Manage the timely purchasing and payment of invoices via an electronic financial management system.
7. Coordinate the recording of internal and external course fees, and purchase of training and education equipment,
training materials and training aids.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. High level interpersonal, communication and organisational skills that demonstrate effective team membership and the
ability to work in a workforce development and training environment.
2. Proven skills in the effective use of computer-based systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and electronic
payment systems.
3. Working knowledge of electronic records management and purchasing and procurement systems.
4. An ability to engage effectively with a wide range of people exercising sensitivity, empathy and maintaining confidentiality.
5. Proven initiative and adaptability with a high level of probity and conduct.
6. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Desirable
1. Previous experience using learning management systems.
2. Previous experience working in a training, education, and staff development.
