We’re looking for an up-and-coming people leader to coach, inspire and lead the team at Pioneer Swim Centre!
The RoleAn exciting opportunity exists for a Venue Manager to oversee and grow the operations at Pioneer Swim Centre, Mackay.
This is a seasonal facility, open September through April, with the Venue Manager continuing pool responsibilities and working at Mackay ARC during the off-season.
You’ll lead a passionate team, ensuring the safe and smooth delivery of programs, aquatic operations, and exceptional customer service. With experience in leisure or aquatics facility management, you’ll drive performance outcomes while building strong connections with Council, stakeholders, and the community.
As Venue Manager, you’ll be accountable for:
Operational and financial performance
Program development and delivery
Staff leadership and training
Facility maintenance and compliance
Driving innovation and a customer-first culture
You’re a hands-on, motivated leader who thrives in a people-focused role. With strong communication skills and the ability to engage and inspire, you can confidently manage teams, operations, and stakeholder relationships.
You’ll bring:
Experience in planning and delivering operational, financial and people outcomes
Strong leadership and coaching skills
Knowledge of health & safety compliance
A community-minded approach and commitment to excellence
Blue Card (Working with Children Check & Police Check)
Current First Aid Certificate (Level 2)
Current CPR Certificate
Current Pool Lifeguard Certificate
Pool Operators Certificate
(If you don’t hold the Pool Lifeguard or Operators Certificate, our Belgravia RTO will support you in obtaining these qualifications.)
DesirableTertiary qualifications in a related field
2+ years’ experience in venue management
Financial and HR management experience
Knowledge of aquatic operations and asset management
