About this opportunity:
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Water Quality Officer to join our Water Treatment Program within the Infrastructure & Operations Directorate. This role is responsible for environmental monitoring, sampling, and compliance activities to ensure water quality standards are met across the region.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting routine environmental monitoring and sampling for water and wastewater.
- Maintaining and calibrating field instruments and equipment.
- Assisting in the development and review of environmental procedures and policies.
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders on environmental matters.
- Supporting data collection, analysis, and reporting for statutory compliance.
Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- Relevant degree in Science or Environmental Science, or equivalent experience.
- Practical experience in environmental management, particularly water quality.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of water and waste-related environmental requirements.
- QLD “C” Class Driver’s Licence (or interstate equivalent).
Desirable:
- Experience in local government.
- Knowledge of Environmental Protection (Water and Wetland Biodiversity) Policy.
- QLD Marine Driver’s Licence (MDL) or equivalent.
