About this opportunity:

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Water Quality Officer to join our Water Treatment Program within the Infrastructure & Operations Directorate. This role is responsible for environmental monitoring, sampling, and compliance activities to ensure water quality standards are met across the region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting routine environmental monitoring and sampling for water and wastewater.
  • Maintaining and calibrating field instruments and equipment.
  • Assisting in the development and review of environmental procedures and policies.
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders on environmental matters.
  • Supporting data collection, analysis, and reporting for statutory compliance.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Relevant degree in Science or Environmental Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Practical experience in environmental management, particularly water quality.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of water and waste-related environmental requirements.
  • QLD “C” Class Driver’s Licence (or interstate equivalent).

Desirable:

  • Experience in local government.
  • Knowledge of Environmental Protection (Water and Wetland Biodiversity) Policy.
  • QLD Marine Driver’s Licence (MDL) or equivalent.
