Primary objective
Responsible for the provision of executive level secretariat and administrative support and coordination to the directors across the
Skills NT team.
Context statement
Skills NT contributes to a capable and skilled workforce that meets the Northern Territory’s current and future needs by overseeing
the adult vocational education and training sector. The division delivers a range of responsive training programs aligned to industry
needs and focused on addressing current and emerging skills shortages across the Territory.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high level administration and executive support to the Skills NT Directors.
2. Support the directors with a range of administrative processes including procurement, financial management, scheduling and
resource allocation, travel and management of equipment and resources.
3. Provide secretarial services including word processing, e-mail, and administrative support to staff in organising meetings, events,
various functions, and training activities.
4. Coordinate and prepare basic correspondence and reports to support administrative reporting requirements, including external
and internal corporate reporting.
5. Access, research and collate information and materials required to support effective decision-making.
6. Assist in administration processes to support the broader Skills NT team.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Highly developed written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including proven ability to communicate and work in a
cross-cultural environment.
2. Good organisational and time management skills with proven ability to work under pressure, exercise initiative, responsive to
changing priorities, and plan to ensure deadlines are met.
3. Ability to follow and review existing systems and processes, to ensure efficiency and consistency in service delivery as a work
unit.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary office procedures and practices and the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook,
Teams and PowerPoint) and record management systems.
5. Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
