Join our Downer Professional Services team and express your interest in future opportunities within our System Engineering stream. We are seeking to engage skilled professionals with Defence or Defence industry experience to join our permanent workforce and support complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.

Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.

What You’ll Do:

  • Ensure adherence and maintain compliance to Australian export control laws and international regulations
  • Prepare, submit and manage export applications and records of transactions and approvals
  • Working closely with Australian Defence and other 3 rd parties to provide expert guidance and solutions
  • Identify, assess and resolve export compliance risks and implement mitigation strategies

What You’ll Bring

Previous experience ideally within the Defence or consulting services industries.

  • Proven experience working in Land, Communications, Navy, Space or other Defence sectors
  • Strong experience and understanding of Australian export control laws and international trade compliance frameworks (e.g. ITAR or EAR)
  • Experience in managing approval workflows and coorindating export control activities
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex regulatory requirements to diverse stakeholders and collaboration
  • Demonstrate high precision in managing documentations, licenses and compliance records to reduce legal and operational risks

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
