The Role
As the Facilitation & Engagement Officer, you’ll lead post-implementation reviews, reflective practice sessions, and learning forums across our dynamic Asset Services group. This role is about more than facilitation - it’s about enabling better ways of working, driving continuous improvement, and building a stronger, more resilient organisation.

Using your facilitation expertise, you’ll create safe, respectful spaces where individuals can openly explore what went well, what didn’t, and what we can do better - all with a focus on strengthening outcomes and decision making. This is a high-impact role, empowering teams to surface insights and prioritise action to drive meaningful change.

About us
We’re on a mission to create a brighter future, where you can be a change maker at the actual source. We’re one of Australia’s largest water utilities with over 30% of Victoria’s population relying on us for their essential water and sanitation services.

Our award-winning culture fosters an inclusive, collaborative, and flexible environment that enables our people to thrive. Here, you’ll be inspired and challenged to grow alongside us.

We're committed to reconciliation and supporting the self-determined role for Traditional Owners/Custodians in water and land management.

Your key responsibilities

  • Facilitate people-based learning reviews including assurance reviews, post implementation reviews, and after-action reviews using reflective practice, engagement and participatory practices to surface insights and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Create safe, constructive spaces for reflection using facilitation techniques that focus on learning (not blame), manage power dynamics and encourage meaningful dialogue among diverse stakeholders.
  • Synthesise findings into succinct, actionable reports and presentations, and secure endorsement of improvement actions from relevant managers.
  • Promote knowledge sharing by contributing to and maintaining a centralised system of insights and lessons learned, making knowledge accessible across teams and business units.
  • Share relevant insights with teams and stakeholders and flag any compliance issues or systemic risks with the Assurance Manager for further review.
  • Align reflective practices with broader frameworks, ensuring compatibility with assurance, governance, and risk management systems, including actions tracking.
  • Engage stakeholders effectively by developing strong, collaborative relationships with project teams, SMEs, senior leaders, and functional areas to foster honest reflection and drive improvement.
  • Adapt engagement approaches to suit the operational, fast-paced environment of Asset Services.
  • Coach and support frontline staff to strengthen their reflective practice and embed continuous learning in daily operations.
  • Facilitate internal learning sessions and contribute to building assurance capability through training and development initiatives.
  • Support the development and refinement of frameworks, templates, and methodologies that enable effective assurance.
  • Assist in verifying critical controls, identifying gaps, and contributing to operational risk management.
  • Track, monitor, and follow up on agreed improvement actions to drive accountability and ensure completion.

What we’re looking for

  • A natural facilitator with strong interpersonal skills, able to manage group dynamics, hold space for honest reflection, and adapt quickly to varied personalities and communication styles.
  • Self-motivated and self-driven, with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and support teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, open feedback, and reflective practice.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with a proven ability to break down complex information into clear, actionable insights and deliver impactful reports and presentations that support strategic decision making.
  • Understanding of quality management systems, compliance frameworks, and risk-based legislation is desirable
  • Experience in the water and/or construction industry - desirable

Highly regarded qualifications:

  • A qualification in assurance, quality, or continuous improvement
  • IAP2-certified Engagement Professional
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (or equivalent)
