The Finance team, led by the Chief Financial Officer exists to support the strategic and financial aims of the Institute through the regular planning, controlling and reporting of the financial operations including the Garvan Research Foundation (GRF) and Australian Bioresources (ABR).
THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Financial Planning & Analysis Manager’s role will be to lead the Financial Planning & Analysis team to provide business support to the whole Institute.
Salary: Up to $150,000 + 12% super + salary packaging (depending on experience)

WHAT YOU WILL DO
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITES
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage a team of three Finance Partners and one Accountant, including performance monitoring
- Demonstrate leadership within the Finance team, and across cross functional teams
- Provide financial modelling expertise to support Finance Partners with complex financial scenarios and provide training to add capacity to the team
- Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with Operations Managers, Facility Managers, Program & Platform Leads and other people leaders in support of their budget and forecasts
- Encourage driver-based budgeting and forecasting & scenario modelling to align with Garvan's strategic objectives
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate FP&A processes and lead transformation, not just maintain the status quo
- Prepare reports and information to analyse business performance and manage costs, including the utilisation of BI and reporting tools
- Provide financial advice and guidance while modelling complex financial scenarios through the development of detailed business cases.
- Assess commercial contracts and provide advice in relation to financial implications.
- Liaise with internal and external auditors
- Support the Financial Controller and Chief Financial Officer with ad hoc analysis as required.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED. su
The key skills and experience include:
- CPA or CA qualified
- Experience leading a team
- At least 8 years’ experience supporting complex financial environments, including business partnering experience
- Significant analytical skillset, including the utilisation of BI and reporting tools
- Ability to model complex business cases
- Advanced financial modelling skills with a proven ability to build robust and flexible models from scratch.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and draw insightful conclusions.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships across all levels of an organisation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience within the not-for-profit, research, university, or healthcare sector (desirable)
- Experience using Workday Financials and Adaptive Insights (desirable)
