The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. About the role
Based within the Learning and Development team the Learning and Development Advisor is responsible for coordinating and administering the performance and development planning (PDP) process and supporting other capability and development programs and initiatives that contribute to the delivery of People and Culture services to departments within the corporate shared services environment, which may include learning monitoring and reporting, and some facilitation.
The role will also input into projects across the People and Culture function that intersects with learning and development.
This is a fixed term 12 month parental leave backfill role.
This role is a great secondment opportunity for current VPS employees.
About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
- Strong initiative and a customer-centric approach to identify issues and develop appropriate solutions to solve business problems and improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Strong organisational and administration skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines while working in pressured situations.
- Strong reporting skills and intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel
- High level of interpersonal skills, strong communicator, both written and verbally and proven experience in managing stakeholder relationships.
- High attention to detail
- Experience working in a Learning and Development, Organisation Development or generalist HR role (that has exposure to learning and development tasks)
- Knowledge of the VPS Performance Development Planning (PDP) process is desirable for this role
- Experience in co-facilitating training workshops is desirable for this role
Mandatory or desirable requirements
- Previous experience with VicGov People (SAP SuccessFactors) talent administrator function would be beneficial but is not necessary
- Knowledge of the VPS Performance Development Planning (PDP) process is desirable for this role
- Co facilitation experience and an awareness of Adult Learning Principles is desirable
Key accountabilities
- Increase visibility of learning and development opportunities available within the Experience, Exposure and Education (70/20/10) learning model, including by working with colleagues to embed and promote the learning model into a learning culture in which managers and employees take accountability for their own learning.
- Support the development, delivery, maintenance of Learning and Development programs
- Undertake coordination and administration functions within VicGov People (SAP SuccessFactors) talent administrator function, to ensure smooth day-to-day operations for users and liaise with support providers when required.
- Manage the VPS Performance Development Planning (PDP) process, including managing the 3-stage process, providing advice to employees and ensuring guidance notes are kept up to date
- Assist in the development and continuous improvement of training materials, and schedules.
- Generate regular and ad-hoc reports on training activities
- Co-facilitation of a range of inhouse training sessions in accordance with defined session plans and materials
- Ensure training documentation is filed, accessible, and compliant with internal and regulatory standards in Sharepoint and VicGov People
