About the Role
The Infrastructure Development Manager plays a pivotal role in delivering AusNet's Transmission Connections development and acquisition strategy. This role leads a dedicated team focused on identifying opportunities, developing solutions, preparing proposals, and executing contracts to support the Contestable Connections growth strategy. The primary focus is on enabling connections for renewable generation, energy storage and major electrical loads across Australia.
Working directly with the Head of Business Development – Generation & Storage, GM Contestable Connections , ELT, and Board where necessary to execute AusNet’s Contestable Connections growth strategy. This role is responsible for all related business development activities.
This role will report to the Head of Business Development – Generation & Storage and is located at Southbank, Victoria.
Occasional interstate and regional travel required

What you will deliver
- Work within the business development governance processes that coordinate and prioritise all Contestable Connections business development activities.
- Support the Head of Business Development– Generation & Storage in developing a clear strategy for growing the Contestable Connections portfolio.
- Provide deep commercial and financial expertise to transaction execution and relationship building.
- Manage relationships in the market that can lead to contestable transmission connection growth including potential clients, opportunity capture and delivery partners.
- Development of internal investment approval documents
- Manage any internal relationships to ensure proper support in regard to contestable transmission connection growth.
- Manage partner and where appropriate bid/project consortia arrangements and relationships.
- Manage the negotiation of contractual arrangements and partner agreements
What we like about you
- A relevant degree or diploma in business, engineering or finance, (or other relevant discipline)t; or higher formal qualifications with a shorter period of experience; or lesser formal qualifications supported by extensive relevant experience.
- Significant experience a business development / commercial role within a complex multi-million dollar deal and investment environment
- Proven ability to negotiate contracts for both procurement and provision of services with a focus on risk management and value exchange
- Strong financial acumen (further experience in financial management and/or in the infrastructure or energy industry is favourable but not essential)
- Understanding of drivers in the renewable power industry
- Proven ability to manage large virtual teams including functions such as legal, finance, engineering consultants, etc
