Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.

The Supreme Court of Victoria is the highest court in Victoria and comprises the Court of Appeal and the Trial Division. The Court deals with major criminal and civil matters, plus appeals against decisions of lower courts.

About the Role
The Supreme Court of Victoria is seeking an individual to work in the Probate Office in provision of client services and administrative support from late September 2025 – end of December 2025 (3 months).
The Supreme Court of Victoria exercises exclusive jurisdiction in relation to succession law matters, with the Registrar of Probates exercising the delegated judicial power of the Court with respect of applications for grants or representation. The Probate Office, headed by the Registrar, processes all applications made in Victoria for probate and administration (approximately 27,000 each year).
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience in a fast paced service driven environment, working closely with other members of the Probate Office to ensure high service delivery standards are met. This fixed-term opportunity is perfect for someone looking for their first entry level job in the legal sector.
Duties Include:
  • Effectively delivering a range of Probate Office client services, ensuring high service delivery standards are achieved.
  • Providing accurate, consistent and authoritative procedural and practical guidance/advice to the legal profession, trustee companies and self-represented applicants.
  • Providing administrative support to the Registrar of Probates and Assistant Registrars to enable the issuing of grants of probate and administration.

About You
To be the successful applicant, you should have excellent organisation skills, be resilient when unexpected things arise and have an ability to solve problems. To be well-suited to this role you will be able to work as part of a team towards common goals, have a strong customer focus, be hard-working and be able to develop effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Relevant experience working in a legal, court or client/customer services environment, is desirable. Knowledge of succession law is highly regarded. Training in relation to relevant legislation and rules will be provided.
