This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a high-impact, technical role contributing to community recovery following natural disasters. With flexible working arrangements and negotiable office locations across NSW, these roles suit professionals looking for purpose-driven work, wherever they’re based.
In this role, you will:
-
Lead and conduct detailed assessments of complex DRFA funding submissions and claims, ensuring compliance with technical solutions, eligibility criteria and funding guidelines.
-
Collaborate with internal external stakeholders to address technical and compliance issues in funding applications and claims.
-
Oversee documentation and record-keeping processes to ensure audit readiness and compliance with reporting requirements.
-
Prepare and review detailed reports on funding program performance, compliance outcomes, and assessment trends for senior management.
-
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to assessment officers, supporting their development and ensuring the accuracy and consistency of assessments.
-
Provide advice into governance frameworks and stakeholder engagement initiatives, including opportunities for infrastructure betterment. This includes implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and alignment with DRFA standards.
About you:
You are detail-oriented, analytical, and take pride in delivering high-quality work in a dynamic environment. You demonstrate initiative and autonomy in decision-making and enjoy balancing technical accuracy with practical problem-solving.
You will also be a confident communicator, able to translate complex information into clear, well-reasoned reports and advice. A strong understanding of infrastructure delivery and disaster recovery funding (especially the DRFA) will be key to your success in this role.
Essential Requirements:
-
Tertiary qualifications in engineering, quantity surveying, finance, or a related discipline, and relevant professional experience in infrastructure recovery or funding assessment.
-
Demonstrated expertise in funding or claims assessment, with experience in managing complex cases and ensuring regulatory compliance.
-
Strong knowledge of the DRFA and other disaster recovery frameworks, including compliance, funding eligibility, and audit/compliance requirements.
-
Proven ability to analyse complex policy and funding challenges, and provide practical, evidence-based advice in high-pressure and dynamic environments.
-
Meets the requirements of a Suitably Qualified Professional (SQP) as defined under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA), with the capability to assess and verify infrastructure damage, scope of works, and value-for-money assessments in line with DRFA eligibility criteria.
