The role:
Join our team as a Wildlife Officer at our Proserpine prawn farm, where you’ll play a vital role in safeguarding our stock by managing predatory wildlife. This is a full-time contract position until the end of March 2026, offering stability and the chance to contribute to sustainable aquaculture operations.
Responsibilities:
- Safely and responsibly operate firearms and animal trapping devices, prioritising environmental protection and minimising risks to personnel, equipment, and stock.
- Conduct regular pond inspections, monitoring prawn health, water quality, and potential contaminants.
- Report and escalate significant wildlife threats to the relevant team members.
- Maintain accurate records and submit weekly reports on wildlife activity and control measures.
- Assist with additional farm duties as required.
Role requirements:
- Current and valid firearms and animal trapping licences (essential).
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Basic tech proficiency (iPad use for reporting).
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Legal right to work in Australia.
- Satisfactory National Police Check (required prior to appointment).
Role offerings:
- Full-time contract position until end of March 2026.
- Competitive hourly rate with an additional $360 per fortnight (pro-rata) prawn farming allowance
