Join our team to support quality student placements and work integrated learning opportunities for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. This role plays a key part in ensuring students have a positive, compliant, and enriching learning experience while building strong relationships with placement partners.

  • Salary Package: From $99,161 (HEW 6) p.a. plus 17% employer’s superannuation and annual leave loading.
  • Appointment Type: 2x full-time, fixed-term positions (up to 12 months)
  • Location: Faculty of Arts at Macquarie University (Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde)
The Role
As a Work Integrated Learning Support Officer, you will coordinate and deliver high-quality support services, providing detailed information and advice for student placements and work integrated learning (WIL) for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Coordinating and delivering administrative support for placements, ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Supporting placements, internships, student volunteering, work placements, and co-op programs as relevant within the Faculty.
  • Providing information and advice to students and staff about placements and WIL activities, maintaining placement-specific resources.
  • Contributing to risk management plans and responses to legislative changes and/or health outbreaks where relevant.
  • Monitoring student progress during placements and ensuring assessments are completed in line with course requirements.
  • Acting as a point of contact for Fitness to Practice concerns, ensuring prompt responses and escalation where required.
  • Maintaining placement systems and databases, ensuring compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external partners to ensure effective delivery of all placements/WIL activities.
  • Promoting opportunities for internships, volunteering, and WIL to students across the Faculty.
  • Collaborating with other University areas to improve processes, streamline student experience, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

About You
You will have:
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience.
  • A thorough knowledge of student placements and WIL programs.
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal – with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and partners.
  • Experience in monitoring student placement progression and compliance.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet competing deadlines.
  • Intermediate computing skills (Microsoft Office, databases).
  • A proactive approach to process improvement and a strong customer service focus.

1. Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience.
2. Knowledge of and experience with student placements and work integrated learning programs, including experience monitoring student placement progression, addressing compliance issues, administrating process improvement, and providing advice and information.
3. High-level communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work and engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including staff and students.
4. Demonstrated ability to monitor placement progression and ensure compliance.
5. Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems.
7. Experience in developing and implementing process improvements.
8. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain stakeholder relationships, with a strong focus on delivering high quality customer service.
