Why this role matters
The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.
About the role
As an AOD Case Worker, this is your opportunity to deliver compassionate, high-quality support through case management, comprehensive assessments, referrals, and client education. You’ll work closely with individuals experiencing substance use issues, supporting them on their recovery journey.
Reporting to the Senior Case Worker, this is a permanent full-time position based in Nowra, offering a chance to make a meaningful impact within a supportive, client-focused team.
How you will make an impact
- Provide client-centred case management and ongoing support
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify client needs
- Facilitate referrals to appropriate health, housing, and social services
- Deliver education and resources on alcohol and other drug use and harm reduction
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support client recovery goals
What you will bring
- Minimum of Diploma level qualification in a relevant discipline (AOD, Community Services, Case Management).
- Completed 4 AOD Skill Set Units (or willing to undertake/complete during employment).
- Demonstrated ability to deal with unpredictable situations and behaviours utilising de-escalation techniques.
- Knowledge of AOD, mental health, community services and health sectors.
- Drivers Licence
- First aid certificate

Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Award level 4
