What is the role?

CIO Command provides critical integrated, secure and effective information and communications systems and services to the AFP.

CIO Command supports the management of the AFP appointees, resources and business activities.

This work may include:
Ensuring outputs are achieved within the strategic direction of the AFP;
Developing team members and fulfilling a guiding, mentoring and advisory role;
Leading a range of corporate support tasks;
Providing and maintaining secure and effective information systems and networks (nationally and internationally) to deliver information at the right time and in the right format to serve operational and management requirements;
Supplying advice, services, and work-products to business areas seeking to improve or enhance their business processes;
Maintaining information management standards that meet government requirements; and
Maintaining currency in information technology processes and technical knowledge through ongoing professional development

AFP appointees contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

The Enterprise Architect role is responsible for the creation and maintenance of models that describe the AFP's future state and enables its evolution. This typically involves the interpretation of business goals and drivers; the translation of business strategy and objectives into target architectures; the strategic assessment of current capabilities; the identification of required changes in capabilities; and the description of relationships between people, organisation, service, process, data, information, technology and the external environment.

The CIO Command Enterprise Architecture team is a major point of contact within CIO Command for AFP business areas when they are considering new opportunities.

What will you do?

As a Business Architect you will:
Engage with executive level stakeholders to understand their vision, define strategies and solutions, and undertake business architecture activities;
Work with the Principal Architect to deliver business strategy and transformation, with IT solutions delivering a more robust enterprise, solutions-based approach to achieving the goals and requirements of the business and the AFP Technology Strategy;
Analyse complex business architecture problems and developing intent outcome maps, strategies, and road maps;
Work with and across the AFP architecture domains to ensure strong alignment and collaboration;
Develop conceptual designs;
Support Commands through their development of business cases for technology investment;
Apply structured business architecture principles, approaches and methodologies; and
Provide knowledge/skills transfer to the community of practice.

Essential Requirements
You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application
A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Formal qualifications in information and communications technology from a recognised tertiary institution or extensive demonstrated equivalent skills and experience;
Proven experience in the use of Architecture & Design tools (i.e. Sparx EA)
