Clinical Writer & Medical Records Officer
Location: Port Kennedy, WA
Employment Type: Part-time
Make your clinical experience count for more than just a job, help change the lives of Australian veterans.
At AVAC Services, we support current and former ADF members to access the compensation and recognition they deserve. We’re looking for a passionate, detail-driven professional with a clinical background to join our mission as a Clinical Writer & Medical Records Officer.
This is not your average admin role. You'll be at the heart of our veteran support process, reviewing ADF and civilian medical records, extracting key clinical evidence, and working closely with practitioners to prepare clear, accurate reports that shape the outcome of life-changing claims. If you have a knack for navigating complex files, a love for precise documentation, and a heart for the veteran community, this is the role for you.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Review ADF and civilian medical records to identify relevant clinical history and timelines.
- Draft structured clinical and medico-legal reports under practitioner guidance using proven templates.
- Liaise with case managers and practitioners to collate and clarify supporting medical evidence.
- Track report requests, manage deadlines, and ensure timely completion of all clinical documentation.
- Support clinicians with administrative tasks and ensure report workflows stay on track.
- Process clinician invoices and maintain documentation accuracy across systems.
- Maintain a high standard of documentation quality, consistency, and confidentiality at all times.
What We’re Looking For:
- Clinical background in nursing, allied health, health science, or similar.
- Experience interpreting or working with medical records.
- Former ADF service is highly desirable, but not essential.
- Strong written communication skills with an eye for detail and clarity.
- Confident using Microsoft Word, Teams, and basic spreadsheet tools.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise deadlines, and work independently.
- A genuine commitment to the wellbeing of the veteran community.
Why Join Us?
- Purpose-driven work: every report you write helps a veteran be seen, heard, and supported.
- Great team culture: supportive, values-aligned, and committed to impact.
- Flexible work options: designed to fit around life, not compete with it.
- Training and growth: we invest in you with ongoing development and meaningful career progression.
- Be part of something bigger: AVAC is reshaping the future of veteran advocacy, and you’ll play a critical part.
Sound like you?
We'd love to hear from you. Apply today and help us support those who’ve served.
