About the Role

The Ethical Standards Branch champions Council’s commitment to integrity, transparency, and ethical governance. It provides strategic leadership and expert advice on complex governance matters, including investigations into corrupt conduct, administrative actions, and code of conduct complaints. The branch plays a vital role in fostering a culture of accountability and trust across the organisation.

This role leads the coordination of sensitive workplace investigations into misconduct and corrupt conduct, while ensuring Council’s compliance with the Right to Information and Information Privacy Acts. It plays a critical role in upholding ethical standards, promoting transparency, and supporting good governance across the organisation.

As the Coordinator (Principal Investigations Officer) Integrity Management you will:

  • Lead and manage complex investigations into misconduct and corruption
  • Provide strategic advice on integrity, governance, and compliance matters
  • Prepare high-level reports and drive continuous improvement in policy and process
  • Mentor Investigations Officers and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders

This position is based at Sunshine Coast City Hall , in the heart of Maroochydore CBD. This state of the art and sustainable building is designed to achieve an innovative and collaborative workspace.

About you

You are a skilled governance and investigations professional with a strong foundation in ethical leadership and strategic decision-making. With a degree in Law, Business Management or a related discipline—or extensive experience in corporate governance—you bring sound judgment and the ability to manage complex priorities with confidence.

Your analytical and research capabilities are complemented by advanced reporting skills and a clear understanding of investigative processes. You communicate with clarity and professionalism, and your negotiation and mediation abilities support effective resolution of sensitive matters.

You also bring a thorough working knowledge of key Queensland legislation, including the Crime and Corruption Act, Public Interest Disclosure Act, Right to Information Act, and the Information Privacy Act. This legal insight enables you to navigate governance challenges and contribute meaningfully to Council’s commitment to integrity and transparency.
