The Opportunity:
In this role, you will be instrumental in driving sales and profit growth across key state-based independent retailers and Metcash state offices, specifically within our non-alcohol portfolio. You’ll build and nurture genuine business partnerships that deliver on revenue, profit, and strategic objectives, while owning the full P&L responsibility within your customer base. Your ability to collaborate with internal teams and influence external stakeholders will be key to executing our Independent Grocery strategy across NSW. By aligning field teams with our vision and ensuring seamless execution, you’ll play a vital role in shaping the success of our soft drink business in the Independent Grocery channel.
Key Responsibilities:
Account Planning & Sales Execution
- Design and deliver account plans to achieve sales targets in partnership with Category, Pricing, Marketing, Logistics, and Finance teams.
- Drive retailer and Metcash plans, ensuring alignment with company and brand strategies.
- Monitor performance vs. budget, providing regular variance analysis and actionable insights.
Financial Management
- Manage trade spend costs within budget guidelines.
- Negotiate and optimize trading terms to maximize business results.
Sales & Marketing Strategy
- Collaborate with internal teams to deliver category management best practice, consumer insights, and promotional programs.
- Develop joint business plans with customers to meet shared objectives.
- Ensure competitor activities and customer initiatives are communicated and acted upon.
Stakeholder Management
- Build and nurture relationships across internal teams and with key customer contacts.
- Identify and drive business improvement opportunities.
What You'll Bring:
To help you hit the ground running, you’ll bring:
- Proven experience managing Metcash and Independent Grocery accounts (highly desirable).
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify and unlock growth opportunities at a state level.
- Skilled in negotiation and influencing, with confidence engaging both internal and external stakeholders.
- A strategic mindset and passion for driving results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Advanced Excel capabilities, including commercial modelling and data analysis.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships.
- Strong prioritisation and time management skills to effectively balance competing demands.
- Solid forecasting and demand planning experience.
- A proactive, solutions-focused team player who thrives in cross-functional environments.
- Ability to communicate clearly and confidently across all levels of the business.
