CommBank’s Financial Crime Operations (FCO) Strategy and Performance (S&P) team is looking for a Manager to join our Financial Crime Operations Remediation portfolio.
Financial Crime Operations (FCO) is a team of 2000 Operations Professionals and leads the Group’s approach to managing Anti-Money Laundering, Counter Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) and Sanctions risks and obligations through the provision of operational services across the Customer Lifecycle. The Scope of work includes Onboarding and KYC, Enhanced Customer Due Diligence (ECDD), Ongoing Due Diligence including Transaction Monitoring (TM), Customer and Payment Screening and periodic KYC Refresh.
The Strategy & Performance function is an enablement function supporting Financial Crime Operations to meet the performance and quality objectives set by the Group. S&P work in partnership with the FCO operational teams to set the strategic direction, define performance targets and operating model as well as provide core enablement functions including governance, workforce optimisation, performance insights, strategic initiatives, change management, capability, communications, etc.
The Role.
As a Manager within FCO Remediation you will lead a portfolio of incidents requiring remediation within Financial Crime Operations. This role is directly responsible for driving incidents through the full remediation lifecycle, ensuring momentum and accountability across all stages including governance, scheduling and operationalisation.
You’ll collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders including Technology, Operations, Product Owners, Level 1 Risk, and Financial Crime Compliance (FCC). Strong stakeholder management is key, as you’ll be drafting initial submissions for risk committees and providing monthly reporting on the remediation portfolio, such as tracking progress, identifying challenges, and generating key insights.
You will also play a critical role in completing business readiness assessments. This includes evaluating whether Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are fit for purpose, ensuring appropriate training is conducted, and determining which resources are best placed to perform remediation activities.
On any given day you will:
- Directly review and progress Financial Crime Incidents through their remediation lifecycle.
- Act in a discrete and confidential manner to ensure the Groups policies and processes remain confidential, and tipping-off provisions are not breached.
- Build & maintain effective relationships with a range of stakeholders including peers, leaders, QA and L1 Risk partners, FCC and technology delivery teams.
- Work across the broader FCO to identify remediation themes and potential quality improvement ideas.
- Work with stakeholders to establish a quarterly prioritisation process to ensure incidents are scheduled for remediation through a financial crime lens. Fostering a continuous improvement and best practice mentality across FCO.

- Demonstrable experience in Financial Crime Operations or deterrence or in-depth understanding across remediation or compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for reporting and collaboration.
- Continuous improvement mindset and ability to think strategically.
- Experience in working with data, reporting and analytics to make informed decisions preferred. Ability to adapt coaching approaches to different learning styles and needs.
