The National Capital Authority (NCA) has responsibility to shape Canberra as a capital of which all Australians can be proud, by ensuring it is well Planned, Managed and Promoted consistent with its enduring national significance.
The Communication’s, Media and Engagement Manager will play an important role developing and delivering communication and engagement plans focused on the work of the NCA. They will lead the NCA social media channels and manage the NCA website, ensuring latest communications are updated on all NCA digital channels.
The duties of the Communications, Media and Engagement Manager, may vary depending on National Capital Authority (NCA) priorities. It is expected that duties will include the following:
- Create corporate communications and engagement plans and strategies in cooperation with the Executive team and create the corresponding content.
- Prepare and distribute media releases and alerts to the media when required and prepare talking points and media briefs for the SES and other NCA staff for each release and alert.
- Provide editorial assistance across the NCA for communication materials.
- Effectively communicate the activities of the NCA to Authority members and staff, including the distribution of regular media monitoring updates.
- Build rapport with media outlets and pitch proposed stories and ideas to journalists.
- Contribute to discussions and decisions around maximising the communication and engagement opportunities to raise awareness of the NCA and ensure the correct positioning of NCA messages.

- Assist with the provision of statutory reports such as annual reporting and questions on notice as required.
- Support the work of the Senior Leadership Team and contribute to the team’s success.
- Participate as a constructive member of the National Capital Authority and provide reasonable support to the wider organisation as required.
- Qualifications in a relevant discipline or extensive industry experience.
- Ability to gain and maintain a security classification of Baseline is mandatory.
- At least 3 years demonstrated experience working in a client-focused environment is desirable.
- Understanding of government and industry principles relevant to corporate communications.
