Primary objective
Provide high quality administrative and project support to the Intergovernmental Strategy and Reform team.
Context statement
The work of the Intergovernmental Strategy and Reform team is dynamic and diverse. You will be joining a small team that
works closely with other Northern Territory (NT) Government agencies and other jurisdictions to pursue and protect the
interests of the Northern Territory through national forums and agreement negotiations.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide project management and coordination support for the IGSR team in the preparation and logistics for participation
in intergovernmental meetings, including National Cabinet, Council for the Australian Federation and relevant officials’
groups.
2. Manage the coordination of generic email inboxes for the unit and other incoming requests to identify and prioritise
urgent matters, allocate tasks and track deadlines to ensure correspondence is actioned and completed in a timely
manner.
3. Assist with the preparation of briefings on intergovernmental relations and national policy matters, including preparation
and maintenance of templates, drafting of materials and providing quality assurance and proofing of briefing materials
prepared for senior executives and ministers.
4. Develop and maintain productive working relationships with other work units within the department, and across NT
Government, Commonwealth and other state and territory stakeholders to ensure clear exchange of information,
cooperative preparation of documents, and timely responses to requests.
5. Contribute to the ongoing review and quality improvement of team processes and practices.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Excellent organisational skills with proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities, monitor workflows and meet
deadlines while under pressure.
2. Experience in providing high quality project support and coordinating document workflows, including outstanding
attention to detail, proof-reading skills and high standards of presentation.
3. Well-developed oral and written communication and collaboration skills and ability to interpret and analyse information
to assist in the preparation of written briefings.
4. Proven ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion in a politically sensitive environment, including knowledge of,
and adherence to, confidentiality and document handling protocols for sensitive materials.
Desirable
1. Experience in using NT Government administrative systems.
2. General knowledge and understanding of government processes and systems, including in relation to intergovernmental
agreements and forums.
