The Department
Alfred Health Carer Services (Carer Services) reports to the Senior Manager - Community Health Programs, which is part of the Home, Acute & Community program. Carer Services supports carers, the person being supported and care relationships in a client-centred, timely and responsive manner.
Carer Services is funded by State and Commonwealth Governments to deliver multiple programs including phone support, in person support services, peer support, information and social activities to carers (including young carers) of people who are aged, living with dementia, have a disability or chronic illness, and/or mental illness.
The Role
The Team Leader is responsible for developing and maintaining high quality services to carers. This includes leading and developing staff expertise and delivering services to ensure high practice standards, fulfilment of funding targets and obligations, maintaining awareness of sector developments, developing strategic partnerships, and managing service demand.
The Carer Engagement and Wellbeing team support the delivery of a range of peer support, education and outreach activities both online and in-person, carer coaching, support delivery of brokered counselling program. Occasionally the team may need to support carer assessment and planning function. This position engages and collaborates with key partners and stakeholders to enhance social inclusion, participation, and advocacy for carers in the community.
Qualifications and Experience Required (see position description for all duties and responsibilities)
- Tertiary qualifications in Allied Health, Behavioural Science, Social Sciences or Welfare
- Be eligible for AHPRA membership or Agreeable to provide an annual Statutory Declaration
- Experience managing staff, including the ability to advise and support staff in service provision and develop team performance
- Ability to maintain a clear focus and positive outlook, and capacity to adapt in a complex and changing work environment
- Energy, enthusiasm and commitment to create and promote high quality support services to clients
- Excellent organisational and time management skill
- Successful applicants must undergo a police check and have a current Working with Children Check
Desirable
- 7 years experience in relevant profession
- Post graduate qualification
