An opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic Assistant Building Services Officer to assist in the delivery of the Building and Facilities services by undertaking maintenance and other associated works for the City of Darwin. Reporting to the (Senior) Coordinator Building Services, this position is responsible for assisting the team with hands-on maintenance the engagement of contractors and coordination of minor works to ensure all works are completed around City of Darwin's buildings and are delivered to standard in an efficient and safe manner.

About the Opportunity:

City of Darwin is seeking an experienced person to join the Building & Maintenance team in a full-time permanent capacity, to start immediately. The key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • You will play an important function in the team via daily completion of maintenance tasks and assisting in the coordination of maintenance projects for the refurbishment of City of Darwin's built assets.
  • You will assist in the management of contractors, supervise and complete final inspections of minor works and authorisation of invoices.
  • Prepare estimates, and simple building condition reports for building projects and comfortable with the use of various IT systems.
  • Great customer communication skills will be required dealing with various inhouse employees and external stakeholders.

Based at our Operations facility in Woolner, a standard day sees you starting at 7.00am in the morning and finishing at 2.45pm with a monthly rostered day off.

About you:

  • Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent qualification and / or experience
  • C Class Drivers Licence
  • General Industry Construction - White Card
