Lives Lived Well offer a variety of community and residential Alcohol and Other Drug programs throughout Queensland, New South Wales, and South Australia, helping thousands of people every year to navigate AOD related challenges and move forward in life. Our 28-bed residential rehabilitation facility in Bundaberg provides withdrawal support (detox) and residential rehabilitation services in a safe and supportive environment, aimed at promoting lasting change.
Your Opportunity
Working as a Support Worker at our Bundaberg residential alcohol and drug treatment centre for adults, you’ll provide support and supervision to clients undertaking the treatment program. The AOD Support Worker role includes client supervision outside of normal program hours, day to day client support, taking clients to appointments, supervising self-administration of medication, and maintaining client records.
We have multiple casual roles available, which include a mixture of morning, afternoon, and overnight shifts on a 7-day roster. You will need to be flexible around being available at short notice. There will be an expectation to be available for sleep over shifts and weekend shifts. Shift times range from 7.30am – 3.30pm, 1pm – 9pm and 4pm – 8am for sleepover shifts.
The hourly rate is between $38 - $41 per hour plus casual loading and applicable shift loadings.
What you’ll bring
You need to be motivated, committed, and have a genuine interest in working within the Alcohol and Other Drugs sector. Your qualifications, skills and attributes will include:
- Hold, be working towards, or be willing to obtain a Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs, Mental Health, Community Services or other relevant field.
- Flexibility and commitment to working a 24/7 roster pattern which may include night shifts – and feeling comfortable working in an autonomous role
- Being an excellent communicator – you’ll be able to engage with a range of people from different walks of life, in a non-judgemental and supportive way
- A friendly, open, and positive attitude – building relationships to support clients, and providing them with a positive role-model, will be a big part of your role
- Emotional maturity and a calm demeanour, especially in high-pressure or conflict situations
- Working within professional boundaries with a solid understanding of how to practice these with clients and colleagues
- You’ll self-care – this role can be challenging and it’s important to us that you are at your best, to do your best
- Strong computer skills, experience with client note-taking and an understanding of how handovers work. A current Australian Drivers Licence
