Opportunity for an Education Support Officer to join the Sydney Medical School Education Support Team
Full-time continuing position based at Camperdown
Base Salary $103,185 plus 17% Superannuation
About the opportunity
The Sydney Medical School Education team is seeking an Education Support Officer (SMS Education) to support the provision of a broad range of educational support services to academic and teaching staff, in the delivery of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program.
The position requires you to be on site at Edward Ford Building, University of Sydney Camperdown Campus a minimum of 4 days per week . Hybrid options will be decided with your manager if you are successful in this position.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
provide operational and education support to academic teaching staff, including interpreting and applying University policies and procedures
coordinate curriculum and assessment administration, including timetabling, LMS updates, student communications and tracking completion of study
support the recruitment and coordination of paid and non-paid clinical academic teaching staff, including onboarding and guidance on University systems and facilities
manage data and records across relevant systems (e.g. LMS and Sydney Student), ensuring accuracy and compliance
liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure learning and teaching activities run seamlessly and meet the curriculum requirements
contribute to the education support community of practice through collaboration, continuous improvement and adoption of new initiatives.
About you
To be successful in this role, you have:
tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience
the ability to deliver education services with operational agility, mindful of the broader faculty context and demonstrating an appreciation and readiness to adapt your approach in response to changing business needs
the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, together with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement, and the ability to prioritise workload during busy periods
experience working in a tertiary environment with working knowledge of using Learning Management Systems (Canvas desirable), together with sound understanding of timetabling/rostering of student activities
demonstrated intermediate to advanced proficiency in various computer applications including but not limited to Microsoft 365 with the ability to leverage technology effectively to streamline processes and enhance productivity
the ability to apply specialist knowledge to identify, recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives related to education services and processes
effective and tactful communication skills (both verbal and written) with excellent client focus and the ability to build partnerships with internal and external colleagues and partners and between the faculty, precinct and school teams
extensive knowledge of university policies and procedures and administrative processes within a tertiary environment and health environment.
